Step back in time: Kylie Minogue performs against spectacular Egyptian backdrop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZy1ZfpxGY0endofvid

[starttext]

By ANDREA MAGRATH

Spectacular: Kylie Minogue performed last night in front of the ancient Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza in Egypt

She has performed in cities all over the world, but this setting would have to be one of the most jaw-dropping.

With the amazing view of the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza in the background, Kylie Minogue thrilled fans at an open air concert held in front of the spectacular site in Egypt.

The pop star was in Cairo to perform at the 10th anniversary of Enigma magazine.

She took to the stage in a gorgeous sheer gown by Emilio Pucci that was whipped up in the breeze to reveal the diminutive singer's legs, and a staggering pair of spiked Christian Louboutin heels.

Party-goers, dressed to the nines for the 'Hollywood Red Carpet Glamour' dress code, paid around £330 to attend the charity event, with profits going to the We Owe it to Egypt foundation and the Abou el-Reesh paediatric hospital.

The 42-year-old spent some time sight-seeing earlier in the day, gushing to her Twitter followers 'This mystical place is insane!!'

VIPs: The cheering crowd paid £330 for tickets to see Minogue perform, with profits going to charity

She was given a tour of the ancient city by Vice Minister of Culture in Egypt, Dr Zahi Hawass.

Kylie uploaded a picture of the pair standing in front of the Sphinx, and despite her years of globe trotting, she still appeared in awe of the historical site.

She wrote: 'With the amazing Dr Zahi Hawass in front of the Sphinx...yes THE Sphinx!!! To see these sights is so incredible, moving and powerful.'

Later she excitedly tweeted, 'Rehearsing for our show in Cairo..... in front of ...the .....PYRAMIDS!!!!!'

Tourist: Kylie took in the sights with the Vice Minister of Culture in Egypt as her guide earlier int he day

The day before her Cairo concert, Kylie sent her love to sister Dannii who turned 39: 'Peeps...wish Happy Birthday to Mummy @DanniiMinogue!!!' she tweeted.

The Australian superstar recently spoke out about the feud between her younger sister Dannii and former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.

After Dannii wrote about their strained relationship in her autobiography, Sharon's daughter Kelly launched a rant on Twitter about the Australian in response.

Kylie said: 'I feel protective. Dannii is my little sister and I always feel the urge to get involved. But I’m reluctant to get dragged into this fresh hoo-ha

'It’s such a small part of our lives now. I think it’s basically become a pantomime. But it was very real at the time Sharon and Dannii were both on the show.

'We had the Osbournes and the Minogues kicking off. But I know Dannii wishes it would go away. Can we just get past this now? Come on! It’s a bit old and boring.'

It has certainly been one hell of a speedy promotion for Co-Ed, who just only debuted three weeks ago with “Too Late“. For their follow-up promotions, the Co-Ed boys and girls have undergone a 180° transformation, ditching their futuristic concept for a more cutesy colorful concept.

Check out their new “Bbbiribom Bberibbom” song below with the MV, which appears to be another infectious hook song, and with a more even distribution of parts among the members. The story version of the MV even features a cameo from T-ara’s Eunjung.

Wonder Girls spice it up at Pivot Conference 2010 in New York!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZVooMyZ67Yendofvid

[starttext]

The Wonder Girls took to the stage this evening, but the occasion definitely wasn’t your typical music show: as guest performers at the Pivot Conference, the five ladies performed their hottest tracks to an audience of over a hundred brand marketers, business associates and more at Times Square in New York City.

What was especially interesting about this marketing conference was that it featured the Wonder Girls not simply as pop icons but as a model global brand. As Park Jin Young (JY Park) was part of the conference as a keynote speaker, the quintet’s performance was also a presentation of JYP Entertainment’s success in creating an international pop sensation.

Titled “Dinner and the Wonder Girls,” the business casual event drew over a hundred hungry attendees for an evening meal and live music. While a personal dinner with the Girls sold for 20 million won (~$20,000 USD) back in 2007, business associates and Pivot attendees received the opportunity to dine with the ladies’ stage performance as a bonus to attending the conference. Before the performance, staff distributed a number of high quality press kit booklets featuring fourteen pages of JYPE artist photos, notable articles in American media, lists of partnerships, endorsements & awards, company statistics and more.

An hour into the meal, the lights dimmed dramatically and the chatter subsided as a video was projected onto the screens in the front with the familiar tune of Nobody growing in the background. “Without further ado, here they are: the Wonder Girls!” Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls exclaimed in the video, followed by a montage of clips of fans ranging from Brazil to Norway performing the Nobody dance. As the video faded, the Girls stepped onto the stage without skipping a beat and gripped the audience’s attention with an upbeat performance of 2 Different Tears. Although they were a little off at the beginning due to technical difficulties, the Girls bounced right back after thirty seconds for an energetic performance. After performing So Hot and Tell Me, the ladies wrapped up their twenty minute performance with a friendly dance tutorial and, of course, Nobody.

Okay, let me back up for a second: because all of the chairs in the room had been filled, the area in front of the stage had transformed into a crowded little picnic area for attendees that had filtered into the performance late. Although it was amusing to see adults in business attire watching a pop music performance while cross-legged on the floor like kindergarteners, it was even more of a spectacle to hear members of the audience cheering and exclaiming fanchants to every song. There were definitely a few Wonderfuls who had attended the conference solely to see the Wonder Girls so this was probably their doing, but who knows – maybe some new fans blossomed out of this performance too!

For exclusive photos of the Wonder Girls’ performance at the Pivot Conference, head over to our brand new photo gallery HERE.
